Firewall Pass-Through Installation Overview
This firewall pass-through method has been proven over years of aircraft builds. Each aircraft typically requires three to four kits, depending on the number and type of components routed through the firewall.
Drill a 1-inch hole in the firewall and add two clearance holes for 6-32 screws. This configuration allows items up to 0.875 inches in diameter to pass through.
For installation, you can either make an X-cut in the baffling material or, for components such as a tachometer cable, punch a hole in the baffling, make a single slit to that hole, and split the plastic bushing on one side. For added protection, apply high-heat silicone sealant to the backside.
Safety Precautions
Always verify that the firewall material and surrounding structure can accommodate the modifications before drilling.
Double-check that no wiring, fuel lines, or control cables are in the drilling area.
After installation, inspect for proper sealing and clearance before the first engine run.
